Sorry I didn't post anything last week so here's a recap of everything including this week.
Last week I had a photo shoot of one look in my collection for the senior look book. My look was a three piece outfit including a coat, machine knit turtleneck, and legging pants. It went pretty well beside the craziness behind camera with all the models and other designers. At the photo shoot I faced a problem with the shoes where the one that i bought for my fit model from school was 2 sizes too small for the photo shoot model. I ran out and luckily found a boot that was a similar style. Other than that the model looked good.
This week has been crazy. I have a lot of stuff going on with my senior thesis and my concepts class as well as my liberals. Next week is midterms so a lot of projects are due. For my senior thesis and I currently working on my double-layer skirt for my second look and at the same time I am cutting and starting to sew my third look. My third look consist of a dolman sleeve top with patent leather inserted belt and slim pants. Today I went out and bought buttons for my shirt but I am having a hard deciding which button I wanna use.
This Thursday I have to finish three looks and have my teachers look at it. On top that I have a collection in concepts due . I am designing an all-white collection based on vapor, liquid, and frozen solid. I have to do more sketching....=( This project will either be an outerwear or intimates collection. Hope I survive this coming week....

New York City!
New York is a fascinating place for many people, especially the unique diversity of the city. There is something about just walking on the street, seeing tons of people heading in different directions and crowding the sidewalk. Everyone is rushing to get somewhere or something. This observation best describes the fashion industry in New York. The industry runs in a face pace speed. It’s thee fashion "IT" spot when it comes to America where people all over the world in the fashion industry come to visit. The diversity of the people, style, and lifestyle is a good way to describe New York's specialness. There's a sense of spontaneity to the city that you never know what will happen. There's always this constant surprise element. New York is the trendsetter for different customers from designers such as new comers, Thakoon, Proenza Schouler, and Doo Ri to the legendary designers such as Bill Blass, Ralph Lauren to Donna Karan. With each of these designers, anyone could definitely see that these designers do not have one of the same mind, but a unique perspective and philosophy of fashion of their own.
The fashion world in New York is very commercial and business oriented. It is about the blend of fashion designers, supermodels, and celebrities. Even as I observe, people on the street have an individual look and style that suits them and soon the unique style ends up as the next trend and inspiration for designers. With all its resources/inspiration from architecture, sculptures, museums, galleries and people, the city is an inspiration for any artist and designer.

Hi!
Hi! My name is Sylvia and I am a senior at Parsons the New School of Design. I'm 21 years old and originally from Stroudsburg, Pennsylania. I decided to come to New York City for college to study fashion design. After three grueling, stressful years of school and a bunch of all-nighters, I am finally in my last year. I'm eager to graduate and at the same time very nervous because I have a long way to go on my senior thesis collection. I wish I had more time......
My senior thesis is a 6 look collection of a womens wear fall/winter collection based on the concept of :Surveillance/ electricity. During my fall semester, I worked on muslins for each garment and adjusted them for fittings. Now in the Spring semester I am working in final fabric and still adjusting my patterns and fit as I finish each look. It can be very frustrating at times because I am constantly fixing the fit of the garments when I actaully want to just start cutting and sewing. This past week I had a fitting for my first look which also happens to be my look for the lookbook. Part of the look conisited of a coat that was a real challenge for me because I had alot of problems getting it to match the original sillouette I wanted . My teacher was influencing me to change my placement of my fabriccolors. I was so confused that I asked for different opinions from teachers and friends. At the end I went with my gut instinct and decided to follow my original idea. The fitting went well besides some adjustments that my instructors told me to do. When I put the whole outfit on the model with the shoes, I was suprised how it looked almost exactly like my illustration. It was a very satifying feeling. Now I am currently working on my second look and have to go buy fabric for my lining.
This week I have a bunch of quizzes, readings, and a portfolio collection( Moodboard, illustrations, flats, and fabric/treatment board due this Wednesday. Now I have to continue more sketching before I start final illustrations.
It is very tedious to juggle my limited time between the senior thesis collection, concepts class(portfolio), univeristy lecture, and business seminar class .
