Senior Thesis Presentation coming.....in a few days!!!!!!

So these past two weeks have been insane for me. I've been sick and addition to that I had all these problems with my dress that got sent out to be sequined. I had to find someone else last minute to help me fix the dress and make my second sequined garment. This was a horrible experience for me. In the end, everything seem to work out. I had my photo shoot earlier this week for my line sheet which is handed out to each of the panel of judges during my presentation. It went pretty well considering that my photographer canceled on me last minute so i had my friend help me out instead.

Friday was racking day ,so I handed in all of my garments. I'm finished!!!!!!!!!!!oh my god...finally. feel more relieved now. Now all I have to do is practice what I'm going to say during my presentation...bit nervous.....

Spring Break Over..........two more weeks till presentation!!!

The past two weeks have been the most stressful for me and even now. I had spend everyday of my spring break at school working on my collection. It was pretty dreadful but, I got a good amount of work done. I just had a fitting after break and all my pants now fit perfectly. Now a good portion of my collection is done. I just sent out my 7th look to be knitted. Now all that is left is a sequined top and an a-line dress. At this point I am a week behind because the person who i had sent it to be done had an emergency and could not give me the finished work. I am very stressed and worried that I wont be able to get a complete 7 looks for the photo shoot next week. I'm crossing my fingers that everything will work out.

I just met my photographer today who will be shooting pictures of my looks. She is also a Parson senior so her work schedule is hectic as well, but luckily we were able to schedule a day to do the shoot and reserve a studio for that time slot. I'm taking a break from my concept class and decided to just focus on the thesis for the next two weeks till my presentation is done. After that I will be able to focus on my portfolio.

This coming week, I have a practice presentation of my collection. My presentation has to be ten minutes so I need to start outlining what I want to say about my collection. Its so hard for me right now to think about my presentation since I'm worried about finishing and getting the rest of garments back on time.

Midterms over....

Hi! The past two weeks have been midterms so its been very crazy. My collection is coming along slowly. My class had a midterm review where I presented half of my collection to my teachers: 3 looks. During my midterm review, my teachers suggested that I add a seventh look since they liked my hand knit sweater that has black intarsia of a circuit board. Now my seventh look with be a chunky cardigan with the same type of intarsia. This has added more work for me so now i have to start pattern making and I send it out asap. Now that midterm week is over....we have a one week spring break. Unfortunately, I can not enjoy this break and instead come to school and continue to work on my thesis. My goal is to try to get most of my collection done. By time spring break is over.....two weeks are left and my presentation day will already be here. Time is flying by so fast its scary!
This weekend I have to meet up with this freelancer designer who is helping me with my sequin dress and top. I also have to pickup my yarns for the additional look. My plan for this break is to sew up all the pants and have them fitted on the model. In addition fix my layered skirt and buy all my linings for my garments. ahh!!!

On the side, I also have my portfolio class where I am continuing to croquis ( sketching designs). This time I decided to design an accessory collection including bags, sunglasses, and some apparel. My concept is based on aeronautics and some influences of military details. This has been exciting so far because I never really sketched accessories as an actual collection. Its definitely a breath of fresh air besides designing clothes every week.
Hopefully next weekend I can visit the Guggenheim Museum and check out the current exhibition, Cai Guo-Qiang a Chinese artist who uses explosives as his main medium/ concept in his work.

Midterm Week Starting...

Hi! Midterms are starting this week. Two days ago I had a fitting for my third look. We were suppose to have half of our collection done. My fitting included a layered skirt, shirt with piping details, dolman sleeve top with a patent leather belt, and silk/wool slim pants. Everything fit well, except the dolman top and the skirt which I am having trouble getting the construction correct. I tried to find more fabric for the skirt at the store, but they sold out.....hopefully i don't have to redo it. Hope its a quick fix. This Tuesday I have a midterm review with both my draping and concept teacher to see our completed looks. Hopefully I'll be able to solve my problem. In the mean time I am gonna start on my fourth look which a is a tailored blazer and pants.

Right now I am also organizing my portfolio and trying to figure out what my next collection should be. Gotta start croquis...

Recap of the Past Two Weeks

Sorry I didn't post anything last week so here's a recap of everything including this week.

Last week I had a photo shoot of one look in my collection for the senior look book. My look was a three piece outfit including a coat, machine knit turtleneck, and legging pants. It went pretty well beside the craziness behind camera with all the models and other designers. At the photo shoot I faced a problem with the shoes where the one that i bought for my fit model from school was 2 sizes too small for the photo shoot model. I ran out and luckily found a boot that was a similar style. Other than that the model looked good.

This week has been crazy. I have a lot of stuff going on with my senior thesis and my concepts class as well as my liberals. Next week is midterms so a lot of projects are due. For my senior thesis and I currently working on my double-layer skirt for my second look and at the same time I am cutting and starting to sew my third look. My third look consist of a dolman sleeve top with patent leather inserted belt and slim pants. Today I went out and bought buttons for my shirt but I am having a hard deciding which button I wanna use.
This Thursday I have to finish three looks and have my teachers look at it. On top that I have a collection in concepts due . I am designing an all-white collection based on vapor, liquid, and frozen solid. I have to do more sketching....=( This project will either be an outerwear or intimates collection. Hope I survive this coming week....
